Educational Q&A

The verse frames a philosophical and social inquiry: if humanity has a single cosmic origin in Brahmā, how do differentiated lineages (gotras) arise? It invites an explanation of how unity at the source can coexist with diversity in social and genealogical classifications.

King Janaka addresses a revered sage and asks for clarification about the origin of the many gotras known in the world, given the traditional belief that all beings ultimately originate from Brahmā.
