भिक्षुलक्षणम्—एकचर्याः, अहिंसा, कैवल्याश्रमः

विज्ञायन्ते हि यैवेंदा: सधर्मा: सक्रियाफला: । सधर्मा निखिला वेदा: ४28 भ्यो विनि:सृता:,एवं उन्हींके द्वारा धर्म, कर्म और फलोंसहित वेदोंका ज्ञान दूसरोंको होता है। धर्मसहित सम्पूर्ण वेद प्रवक्ताओंके ही मुखसे प्रकट होते हैं

vijñāyante hi yaivendāḥ sadharmāḥ sakriyāphalāḥ | sadharmā nikhilā vedāḥ pravaktṛbhyo viniḥsṛtāḥ ||

Vyāsa sprach: „Wahrlich, durch diese Lehrer werden die Veden verstanden — samt Dharma, samt den zu vollziehenden Pflichten und samt den Früchten, die der Handlung folgen. Der ganze Bestand der Veden, untrennbar vom Dharma, strömt aus dem Mund der Ausleger hervor; so gelangen andere zur vedischen Lehre in ihrer vollen ethischen und praktischen Bedeutung.“
