Adhyāya 223: Nāradasya Guṇa-kathana

स एव हाुस्तमयते स सम विद्योतते दिश:
sa eva hāstamayate sa samaṁ vidyotate diśaḥ | sa eva yathāsamayaṁ ālasyaṁ chittvā samantād diśaḥ prakāśayati, sa evāstam eti sa eva varṣati | brahman! taṁ baliṁ ahaṁ mṛgayamāṇo ’pi na paśyāmi | tvaṁ me rājānaṁ balikaṁ ācakṣva ||
Bhīṣma sprach: „Er allein geht unter, und er allein leuchtet gleichmäßig und erhellt die Himmelsrichtungen. Zur rechten Zeit, nachdem er jede Trägheit abgestreift hat, macht er jede Richtung licht; er geht auch unter, und er sendet auch den Regen. O Brahmane, obgleich ich nach jenem Bali suche, finde ich ihn nicht. Sage mir — weise mir König Bali.“
