न शंखलिखितां वृत्ति शक््यमास्थाय जीवितुम् । विशेषत: कुरुश्रेष्ठ प्रजापालनमीप्सया
Translation
Bhishma sprach: „O Bester der Kurus, niemand kann leben, indem er sich allein auf das verlässt, was das Schicksal ‘auf die Stirn geschrieben’ habe. Darum kann ein König, der das Volk schützen will, unmöglich seinen Unterhalt und die Regierung allein dem Glück anheimstellen.“
