आशा-कृशता उपाख्यानम्

The Episode on the Emaciation Caused by Hope

पुनश्च जवमास्थाय जवनो मृगयूथप: । अतीत्यातीत्य राजेन्द्र पुनरभ्येति चान्तिकम्‌,राजेन्द्र! वह मृगसमूहोंका सरदार था। उसका वेग बड़ा तीव्र था। वह बारंबार बड़े वेगसे छलाँग मारता और दूरतककी भूमि लाँघ-लाँचकर पुन: निकट आ जाता था

punaś ca javam āsthāya javano mṛgayūthapaḥ | atītyātītya rājendra punar abhyeti cāntikam ||

Bhīṣma sprach: „Und wieder, nachdem er Geschwindigkeit gesammelt hatte, sprang jener schnelle Anführer der Hirschherde wiederholt weit über den Boden vor ihm hinaus und kehrte dann abermals zurück, um sich zu nähern, o König.“
