Śalya’s Consecration as Senāpati and Kṛṣṇa’s Counsel to Yudhiṣṭhira (शल्यस्य सेनापत्यभिषेकः)
इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत शल्यपर्वमें दुर्योधनका वाक्यविषयक पाँचवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ,तेडब्रुवन् सहितास्तत्र राजानं शल्यसंनिधौ । कृतयत्ना रणे राजन् सम्पूज्य विधिवत्तदा राजन! संग्रामभूमिमें विजयके लिये प्रयत्न करनेवाले उन सब योद्धाओंने वहाँ एक साथ होकर शल्यके समीप राजा दुर्योधनका विधिपूर्वक सम्मान करके उससे इस प्रकार कहा--
teḍbruvan sahitās tatra rājānaṃ śalyasannidhau | kṛtayatnā raṇe rājan sampūjya vidhivattadā rājann saṅgrāmabhūmau vijayāya prayatnamānās te sarve yodhās tatraikībhūya śalyasya samīpe rājānaṃ duryodhanaṃ vidhivat sampūjya tam evam ūcuḥ ||
Sañjaya sprach: Dann versammelten sich dort in Gegenwart Śalyas jene Krieger—die auf dem Schlachtfeld um den Sieg gerungen hatten—und erwiesen König Duryodhana nach gebührendem Ritus förmliche Ehre. Nachdem sie ihm neben Śalya die angemessene Huldigung dargebracht hatten, sprachen sie zu ihm wie folgt—
