Indratīrtha–Ādityatīrtha: Balarāma’s Ritual Bathing, Dāna, and Sacred-Historical Recollections
अरुन्धत्या वरस्तस्या यो दत्तो वै महात्मना । तस्य चाहं प्रभावेण तव कल्याणि तेजसा
arundhatyā varas tasyā yo datto vai mahātmanā | tasya cāhaṁ prabhāveṇa tava kalyāṇi tejasā
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O Heilvolle, durch die Macht und den Glanz jenes Segens, den der Großgesinnte Arundhatī verlieh, werde auch ich getragen und befähigt (zu sprechen/zu handeln) durch dein Strahlen.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical idea that spiritual merit and boons (vara) granted to the virtuous carry real efficacy (prabhāva) and radiance (tejas), supporting righteous speech and action; it also invokes Arundhatī as an ideal of auspicious virtue.
Vaiśaṃpāyana, continuing his narration, refers to a boon bestowed upon Arundhatī by a great-souled figure and states that, through the power of that boon and the listener’s auspicious radiance, he is able to proceed—an invocation that frames the ensuing account as protected and sanctified.
