कार्त्तिकेयाभिषेकः — Consecration of Kārttikeya and the Enumeration of His Retinue
तेजो माहेश्वरं स्कन्नमग्नौ प्रपतितं पुरा । तत् सर्वभक्षो भगवान् नाशकद् दग्धुमक्षयम्,पूर्वकालकी बात है, भगवान् शिवका तेजोमय वीर्य अग्निमें गिर पड़ा। भगवान् अग्नि सर्वभक्षी हैं तो भी उस अक्षय वीर्यको वे भस्म न कर सके
tejo māheśvaraṁ skannam agnau prapatitaṁ purā | tat sarvabhakṣo bhagavān nāśakad dagdhum akṣayam ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Vor langer Zeit löste sich die strahlende, aus Śiva hervorgegangene Kraft und fiel in Agni. Obwohl der erhabene Agni als der Allverzehrende gerühmt wird, vermochte er jene unvergängliche Energie nicht zu verbrennen.“
