Baka Dālbhya at Avakīrṇa-tīrtha: Rāṣṭra-kṣaya and Release through Prasāda (Śalya-parva, Adhyāya 40)
Austerity (tapas) and disciplined self-effort can confer real potency and recognition; ethical strength is not only inherited or granted, but also cultivated through sustained practice.
The narrator indicates that the Grandsire observes or acknowledges Viśvāmitra as being 'endowed with tapas,' setting up or reinforcing Viśvāmitra’s stature and the effectiveness of his ascetic power within the episode.
