अध्याय ४ — दुर्योधनस्य असंधि-निश्चयः

Duryodhana’s Refusal of Reconciliation

युष्माभिस्तानि चीर्णानि यान्यसाधूनि साधुषु । अकारणकृतान्येव तेषां व: फलमागतम्‌,'पाण्डव साधुपुरुष हैं तो भी तुमलोगोंने अकारण ही उनके साथ जो बहुत-से अनुचित बर्ताव किये हैं, उन्हींका यह फल तुम्हें मिला है

yuṣmābhis tāni cīrṇāni yāny asādhūni sādhuṣu | akāraṇakṛtāny eva teṣāṃ vaḥ phalam āgatam ||

Sañjaya sprach: Die Unrechtstaten, die ihr gegen die Rechtschaffenen begangen habt—ohne jeden gerechten Anlass—sind nun als unvermeidliche Folge zu euch zurückgekehrt. Da die Pāṇḍavas Männer der Tugend sind, ist euer grundloses Fehlverhalten ihnen gegenüber zu eben diesem Ergebnis gereift, das ihr jetzt erleidet.
