Saptasārasvata-tīrtha-prasaṅgaḥ | The Saptasārasvata Pilgrimage Account and the Maṅkaṇaka Narrative

आपपलुत्य तत्र तीर्थेषु यथोक्तं तत्र चर्षिभि: | कृत्वोपवासनियमं दत्त्वा दानानि सर्वश:

āpaplutya tatra tīrtheṣu yathoktaṃ tatra carṣibhiḥ | kṛtvopavāsaniyamaṃ dattvā dānāni sarvaśaḥ ||

Nachdem sie dort an den heiligen Furten (tīrthas) gebadet hatten, genau wie es die dortigen Weisen vorgeschrieben hatten, nahmen sie die Zucht des Fastens auf sich und spendeten auf jede Weise Gaben der Wohltätigkeit. Die Stelle hebt das ethische Muster der Pilgerfahrt hervor: Reinigung durch das Bad, Selbstbeherrschung durch Gelübde und die Vollendung des Verdienstes durch freigebiges Geben.
