Trita in the Well (Udapāna-kathā) — Balarāma’s Tīrtha Observances
तास्तु सर्वाब्रवीद् दक्षो गच्छध्वं शशिनो5न्तिकम् | सम॑ वत्स्यति सर्वासु चन्द्रमा मम शासनात्
tāstu sarvābravīd dakṣo gacchadhvaṁ śaśino ’ntikam | samaṁ vatsyati sarvāsu candramā mama śāsanāt ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Da wandte sich Dakṣa an sie alle: „Geht nun in die Gegenwart des Mondes. Auf meinen Befehl hin wird Candramā bei euch allen in gleicher Gesinnung verweilen.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Impartiality (samatā) is a dharmic requirement: when favoritism harms communal or familial balance, legitimate authority may intervene to restore fairness and harmony.
Dakṣa instructs all the women to return to Candramā, assuring them that the Moon will treat them equally because Dakṣa has issued a binding command.
