The verse highlights the battlefield ethic of decisive action and command responsibility: leaders push forward with chosen champions at the front, yet the narrative also implicitly confronts the heavy cost of war—victory is pursued through large-scale killing, raising the tension between duty (kṣatriya-dharma) and the moral gravity of violence.
Sañjaya reports that after destroying a Pāñcāla infantry formation, the great warrior Dhṛṣṭadyumna reappears on the battlefield, moving quickly and placing Bhīma at the head of the advance, indicating a renewed push in the fighting.
