Brahmaśirastra-pratisaṃhāra — Retraction and redirection of the supreme weapon
Sauptika Parva, Adhyāya 15
उवाच भरतश्रेष्ठ तावृषी प्राउजलिस्तदा । प्रमुक्तमस्त्रमस्त्रेण शाम्पतामिति वै मया
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
uvāca bharataśreṣṭha tāv ṛṣī prāñjalīs tadā |
pramuktam astram astreṇa śāmpatām iti vai mayā ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: O Bester der Bharatas! Da wandte er sich mit gefalteten Händen an die beiden Weisen: „Ehrwürdige Seher, ich habe diese Waffe nur zu einem Zweck entsandt: dass durch eine Gegenwaffe das vom Feind geschleuderte Brahmāstra besänftigt werde. Wird diese vortreffliche Waffe nun zurückgenommen, so wird der sündige Aśvatthāman, gestärkt durch die Glut seines eigenen Geschosses, uns alle gewiss zu Asche verbrennen.“
