Pāṇḍavā ūcuḥ: tathety uktvābruvan sarve yathā no vadasy anagha | tvaṃ pitṛvyaḥ pitṛsamo vayaṃ ca tvat-parāyaṇāḥ ||
The verse emphasizes dharmic humility and the proper honoring of elders: the Pāṇḍavas treat Vidura’s guidance as authoritative, acknowledging him as ‘equal to a father’ and making his counsel their refuge.
In the Sabha Parva context, the Pāṇḍavas respond to Vidura’s words with assent and reaffirm their willingness to follow his instructions, explicitly grounding their obedience in kinship (paternal-uncle-as-father) and trust in his moral judgment.
