Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how adharma manifests as public cruelty and dehumanization: Duḥśāsana’s loud taunt ‘dāsī’ and physical manhandling show the erosion of restraint and compassion in the sabhā, making the moral failure of the powerful unmistakable.

In the Kuru assembly, Draupadī looks toward her helpless husbands; Duḥśāsana notices this, violently shakes her, and mockingly calls her a ‘slave-girl’ while laughing aloud, as she is nearly fainting from shock and distress.
