याज्ञसेनी-प्रश्नः

Draupadī’s Question in the Assembly

गृहे वसन्तं गोमायु त्वं वै मोहान्न बुध्यसे । दुर्योधनस्य रूपेण शृणु काव्यां गिरं मम,राजन! दुर्योधनके रूपमें आपके घरके भीतर एक गीदड़ निवास कर रहा है; परंतु आप मोहवश इस बातको समझ नहीं पाते। सुनिये, मैं आपको शुक्राचार्यकी कही हुई नीतिकी बात बतलाता हूँ

gṛhe vasantaṃ gomāyu tvaṃ vai mohān na budhyase | duryodhanasya rūpeṇa śṛṇu kāvyāṃ giraṃ mama, rājan |

Vidura sagte: „Ein Schakal wohnt in deinem eigenen Haus, und doch erkennst du ihn aus Verblendung nicht. In der Gestalt Duryodhanas hält er sich dort auf. Höre, o König, auf meine Worte—Rat, geschöpft aus der Weisheit Śukrācāryas—damit du die Gefahr im Innern erkennst und den Weg einer dharmagemäßen Herrschaft wählst.“

In the Sabha Parva context, Vidura addresses the king and points to Duryodhana as an internal threat, using the metaphor of a jackal living in the house. He urges the king to listen to wise counsel (nīti), implying that failure to act will lead to ruin.
