Shloka 96

'पार्थ! दूसरा कोई उत्तम अस्त्र छोड़ो। राधापुत्र कर्ण तुम्हारे बाणोंको नष्ट करता जा रहा है।” तब अर्जुनने अत्यन्त भयंकर ब्रह्मास्त्रको अभिमन्त्रित करके धनुषपर रखा ।। छादयित्वा ततो बाणै: कर्ण प्रत्यस्यदर्जुन: । तत: कर्ण: शितैर्बाणैज्या चिच्छेद सुतेजनै:

chādayitvā tato bāṇaiḥ karṇaṃ pratyasyad arjunaḥ | tataḥ karṇaḥ śitair bāṇair jyāṃ ciccheda sutejanaiḥ ||

Sañjaya berichtet: „Pārtha! Entfessle eine andere erlesene Waffe. Karṇa, der Sohn der Rādhā, vernichtet deine Pfeile.“ Da beschwor Arjuna das überaus schreckliche Brahmāstra und legte es auf den Bogen. Dann bedeckte er Karṇa mit einem dichten Pfeilhagel und drängte den Angriff voran. Karṇa jedoch erwiderte mit scharf geschliffenen, überaus schnellen Pfeilen und schnitt Arjunas Bogensehne durch.
