ततो जाल॑ बाणमयं महान्तं सर्वेडद्राक्षु; कुरव: सोमकाश्व । नानन््यं च भूतं ददृशुस्तदा ते बाणान्धकारे तुमुलेडथ किंचित् ७ ।। तदनन्तर समस्त कौरवों और सोमकोंने भी देखा कि वहाँ बाणोंका विशाल जाल फैल गया है। बाणजनित उस भयानक अन्धकारमें उस समय उन्हें दूसरे किसी प्राणीका दर्शन नहीं होता था
tato jālaṃ bāṇamayaṃ mahāntaṃ sarve dadṛkṣuḥ kuravaḥ somakāś ca | nānyaṃ ca bhūtaṃ dadṛśus tadā te bāṇāndhakāre tumule ’tha kiñcit || 7 ||
Dann erblickten alle Kurus und Somakas, wie sich dort ein gewaltiges Netz aus Pfeilen ausbreitete. In jener tobenden, von Pfeilen geborenen Finsternis konnten sie in diesem Augenblick kein anderes Lebewesen mehr sehen—nur die blendende, kriegsgeschaffene Dunkelheit, die Blick und Gewissheit verschlang.
