वृक्षाश्नौषधयश्चैव व्याश्रयन्त किरीटिनम्‌ | पर्वत, समुद्र, सजल नदियाँ, वृक्ष तथा ओषधियाँ--इन सबने अर्जुनके पक्षका आश्रय ले रखा था

vṛkṣāśnauṣadhayaś caiva vyāśrayanta kirīṭinam |

Sañjaya sprach: Selbst die Bäume, die essbaren Pflanzen und die Heilkräuter suchten Zuflucht bei Kirīṭin (Arjuna). In der moralischen Vorstellungswelt des Epos wird die Natur selbst als Verbündete der gerechten Seite gezeichnet, als ob Arjunas Sache nicht nur von Menschen, sondern vom Weltgefüge getragen würde.
