Educational Q&A

The verse highlights a grim aspect of kshatriya warfare: victory often comes through strategic disabling of an opponentbcs mobility and weaponry (charioteer, horses, bow), showing how skill and tactical choice can decide outcomes even before a direct duel. Ethically, it reflects the Mahabharatabcs recurring tension between martial duty and the human cost of war.

In Sanjayabcs battlefield report, a warrior uses f1jalika arrows to knock Janamejayabcs charioteer off the chariot and kill the horses, then showers Shatanika and Sutasoma with bhalla arrows and severs their bows, effectively disarming and immobilizing them.
