tato 'bhijaghnur kupitāḥ parasparaṃ śarais tadāñjogatibhiḥ sutejanaiḥ
Dann, von Zorn entflammt, trafen sie einander immer wieder mit Pfeilen—rasch im Flug und scharf geschliffen—und jeder suchte den anderen nach dem unerbittlichen Gesetz der Schlacht zu bezwingen.
कर्ण उवाच
The verse highlights how anger (krodha) intensifies conflict and drives mutual harm; within the battlefield frame it also reflects kṣatriya-dharma, where prowess and endurance are tested, yet ethically it warns that rage narrows judgment and escalates violence.
Karna describes the combatants, provoked to fury, exchanging volleys of fast-flying, razor-sharp arrows, striking one another repeatedly as the duel/battle surges forward.
