Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds satya (truthfulness) and kṣatriya-duty: Arjuna binds himself by a truthful vow that his meeting and honoring of the king will occur only after fulfilling the battlefield obligation of defeating Karṇa.

Arjuna addresses a king (mahīpati/bhūpāla) and declares that he will present himself and offer homage only after killing Karṇa, emphasizing the immediacy (“today”) and the sincerity of his pledge amid the battle’s uproar.
