Transliteration

patitair nipatadbhir viśvaṃ gajair hemavibhūṣitaiḥ

Translation

Sañjaya sprach: Das ganze Feld schien von Elefanten überflutet—einige bereits gefallen, andere noch im Sturz—geschmückt mit goldenem Zierrat; ihre prächtigen Geschirre waren nun zu Zeichen des Verderbens in der Gewalt des Krieges geworden.
