Arjuna Breaks the Encirclement; Bhīma Reinforces

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in practice: when allies falter, a leader steadies the line through fearless resolve and decisive action, using strength not for vanity but to protect one’s side and uphold duty in a just cause.

Sañjaya describes Bhīma (called Māruti, son of Vāyu) charging into the enemy formation and shooting a heavy volley of arrows. The context notes that the Pāñcālas have been pushed back, and Bhīma responds by roaring and counterattacking the enemy ranks.
