kuruṣva samare karma brahmubandhur asi dhruvam | mahābāho! ājāhaṃ tvayā dṛṣṭvā-dṛṣṭvā yuddhe kauravān jayiṣyāmi | tvaṃ samare parākramaṃ prakaṭaya | niścaya eva tvaṃ svadharma-bhraṣṭa brāhmaṇaḥ asi |
Yudhiṣṭhira sprach: „Tu deine Pflicht im Kampf; gewiss bist du nur ein ‘Verwandter der Brahmanen’—ein Brahmane dem Namen nach. O Starkarmiger, heute werde ich, vor deinen Augen, die Kauravas im Krieg besiegen. Zeige deine Tapferkeit auf dem Schlachtfeld. Wahrlich, du bist ein Brahmane, der von seiner eigenen Dharma abgefallen ist.“
