तान् सो$भिपत्य जिज्ञासु: क एषां श्रेष्ठभागिति
Transliteration
tān so’bhipatya jijñāsuḥ ka eṣāṃ śreṣṭhabhāg iti | tam ādadāya durbuddhiḥ patāv iti pakṣiṇam ||
Translation
Sañjaya sprach: Von Neugier getrieben — „Wer von ihnen hat den besten Anteil, wer ist der Vornehmste?“ — flog der törichte Rabe zu ihnen hinauf. Unter den vielen weit fliegenden Schwänen wählte er den Vogel aus, den er für den besten hielt, und rief ihm herausfordernd zu: „Komm — lass uns beide fliegen (im Wettstreit)!“
