Karṇa’s advance against the Pāṇḍava host; Arjuna’s clash with the Saṃśaptakas (कर्णस्य पाण्डवसेनाप्रवेशः—अर्जुनस्य संशप्तकसंप्रहारः)
नमोअस्तु ते ससैन्याय >यम्बकायामितौजसे । मनोवाककर्मभिददेव त्वां प्रपन्नानू भजस्व न:
namo 'stu te sa-sainyāya tryambakāyāmitaujase | manovākkarmabhir deva tvāṁ prapannānu bhajasva naḥ ||
Duryodhana sprach: „Ehrerbietung dir, o Tryambaka (Śiva), von unermesslicher Kraft, samt deinen begleitenden Scharen. O göttlicher Herr, mit Geist, Wort und Tat haben wir bei dir Zuflucht genommen—nimm uns an und stelle uns unter deinen Schutz.“
