कर्णस्य दानप्रतिज्ञा–शल्योपदेश–वाक्ययुद्धम्

उत्तमं व्यसन प्राप्तो भूमावेवावतिष्ठत । उस अश्वहीन रथसे कूदकर आपका पुत्र भारी संकटमें पड़नेपर भी वहाँ पृथ्वीपर ही खड़ा रहा (युद्ध छोड़कर भागा नहीं)
uttamaṃ vyasanaṃ prāpto bhūmāv evāvatiṣṭhata | aśvahīnaḥ rathasthaḥ kṛcchre ’pi na vyapākrāmat ||
Sañjaya sprach: „In das schwerste Unheil geraten, stand euer Sohn dennoch fest auf der Erde. Obwohl sein Wagen ohne Pferde war und äußerste Gefahr ihn bedrängte, wandte er sich nicht ab und floh nicht aus der Schlacht—Standhaftigkeit angesichts der Krise.“
