Pāṇḍya-vadha-anantaram Arjunasya Pravṛttiḥ

Arjuna’s Response and the Renewed Battle

स केशवं चार्जुनं चातितेजा विव्याध मर्मस्वतिरौद्रकर्मा बाणै: सुयुक्तैरतितीव्रवेगै- यैराहतो मृत्युरपि व्यथेत,फिर अत्यन्त भयंकर कर्म करनेवाले महातेजस्वी अश्वत्थामाने भी अच्छी तरह छोड़े हुए अत्यन्त तीव्र वेगवाले बाणोंद्वारा श्रीकृष्ण और अर्जुनके मर्मस्थानोंमें आघात किया। वे बाण ऐसे थे जिनकी चोट खाकर मौतको भी व्यथा हो सकती थी

sa keśavaṃ cārjunaṃ cātitejā vivyādha marma-sv atiraudra-karmā | bāṇaiḥ suyuktair atitīvra-vegair yair āhato mṛtyur api vyatheta ||

Sañjaya sprach: Der überaus strahlende Aśvatthāman—dessen Taten grausig und wild waren—traf Keśava (Kṛṣṇa) und Arjuna an ihren Lebenspunkten mit wohlgezielten Pfeilen von höchster Geschwindigkeit. Die Schläge waren so furchtbar, dass selbst der Tod, träfe ihn solch ein Treffer, vor Schmerz erzittern würde.
