Adhyāya 10: Śrutakarmā’s Engagements; Prativindhya–Citra Duel; Drauṇi Advances toward Bhīma
नीतिमन्तस्तथा युक्ता दक्षा रक्ताश्न ते हता: । न त्वेव कार्य नैराश्यमस्माभिवविजयं प्रति,“हमारे पक्षमें जो देवताओंके समान पराक्रमी, विश्व-विख्यात महारथी वीर, नीतिमान्, साधनसम्पन्न, दक्ष और स्वामीके प्रति अनुरक्त थे, वे सब-के-सब मारे गये, तथापि हमें अपनी विजयके प्रति निराश नहीं होना चाहिये
sañjaya uvāca |
nītimantastathā yuktā dakṣā raktāś ca te hatāḥ |
na tveva kārya nairāśyam asmābhir vijayaṃ prati ||
Sañjaya sprach: Jene Männer von dir—rechtschaffen in der Staatskunst, wohlgerüstet und diszipliniert, tüchtig im Handeln und treu in ihrer Hingabe—sind wahrlich gefallen. Doch dennoch dürfen wir nicht an der Sieghoffnung verzagen.
संजय उवाच
Even after severe losses—of capable, principled, and loyal warriors—one should not surrender to despair. The verse emphasizes steadiness of mind and continued effort toward one’s objective, presenting resilience as a practical and ethical discipline.
Sañjaya, reporting the battlefield to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, acknowledges that many renowned and devoted warriors on the Kaurava side have been killed. He then urges that they should still not lose hope about achieving victory.
