आहोस्विच्छकटबव्यूहं प्रविष्टा मोघनिश्चया: । द्रोणमाश्रित्य तिष्ठन्तं प्राकारमकुतो भयम्
āhosvic chakaṭavyūhaṁ praviṣṭā moghaniścayāḥ | droṇam āśritya tiṣṭhantaṁ prākāram akuto-bhayam ||
Dhṛtarāṣṭra sprach: „Oder traten sie, als ihr Entschluss vergeblich geworden war, furchtlos in die wagenförmige Schlachtordnung (shakata-vyūha) ein, indem sie bei Droṇa Zuflucht suchten, der fest stand wie ein Wall?“
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse highlights how, in crisis, warriors may seek security by relying on a powerful protector and a strong formation; it also hints at the ethical tension between genuine courage and confidence borrowed from external support.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra speculates about the battlefield situation: he wonders whether the warriors, after their plan failed, entered the śakaṭa-vyūha fearlessly because they were sheltered by Droṇa, who stood like a defensive wall.
