Educational Q&A

The verse frames the duel as ‘astonishing’ and ‘great,’ highlighting how epic narration often presents warfare as a spectacle of prowess while implicitly inviting reflection on the moral weight of such greatness—valor and skill unfolding within a tragic, dharma-strained conflict.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that a remarkable and mighty battle is occurring between Karṇa and a Pāṇḍava warrior—introducing or emphasizing the intensity of their confrontation amid the wider war.
