Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the shift from deliberation to action: in war, counsel and debate must ultimately yield to the realities of duty (kṣatriya-dharma) and the unfolding of events. It also highlights Sañjaya’s role as a truthful witness, anchoring ethical reflection in accurate reportage.

Sañjaya reports to the king that as Karṇa and Duryodhana are engaged in extended discussion, the Pāṇḍava battle-formations become visible on the battlefield—signaling imminent engagement and a new phase in the conflict.
