Chapter 148: Karṇa’s Pressure, Dhṛṣṭadyumna Unhorsed, and the Summoning of Ghaṭotkaca
एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु द्रुतं गच्छति भास्करे । अब्रवीत् पाण्डवं राजंस्त्वरमाणो जनार्दन:,राजन्! इसी समय जब कि सूर्यदेव तीव्रगतिसे अस्ताचलकी ओर जा रहे थे, उतावले हुए भगवान् श्रीकृष्णने पाण्डुपुत्र अर्जुनसे कहा--
etasminn eva kāle tu drutaṁ gacchati bhāskare | abravīt pāṇḍavaṁ rājans tvaramāṇo janārdanaḥ ||
Sañjaya sprach: In eben diesem Augenblick, als die Sonne rasch dem Untergang entgegenging, redete Janārdana (Śrī Kṛṣṇa), von Dringlichkeit getrieben, zu Arjuna, dem Sohn Pāṇḍus.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights kāla (time) as a decisive force in dharmic action: when circumstances tighten—symbolized by the sun hastening toward sunset—one must act with clarity and resolve under righteous guidance, rather than delay until opportunity and moral leverage are lost.
Sañjaya reports to the king that as the day was rapidly ending, Kṛṣṇa, feeling urgency, addressed Arjuna. The setting sun signals an imminent shift in battlefield conditions, prompting Kṛṣṇa to press Arjuna toward immediate action.
