Educational Q&A

Nobility is validated not merely by birth but by lived virtues—good conduct (śīla) and self-restraint (dama). A worthy heir harmonizes and upholds the honor of both parental lineages through ethical qualities.

Sañjaya offers a character-forecast or reassurance to a king: the king’s son will be endowed with virtues such as noble conduct and self-control, and will be fitting to both family lines—implying legitimacy, stability, and moral fitness amid the larger wartime context of the Drona Parva.
