Educational Q&A

This verse functions as a colophon, teaching how the Mahābhārata frames ethical and martial events within a disciplined textual architecture. By naming the parva, sub-parva, and the featured duel, it signals that war episodes are not random violence but narrated as morally consequential units within a larger dharma-centered history.

Sanjaya marks the conclusion of a chapter in the Droṇa Parva, within the Jayadratha-slaying section, whose subject is the combat between Bhīmasena and Karṇa. It is a formal closing statement indicating that the described battle episode and its thematic focus have reached completion.
