भूरिश्रवसः गर्हा, प्रायोपवेशः, सात्यकिकृतशिरच्छेदः

राजानं सर्वलोकस्य सर्वलोकमहारथम् | शरैरभ्याहनद् गाढं ततो युद्धम भूत् तयो:,सब लोगोंके राजा और समस्त संसारके विख्यात महारथी दुर्योधनको उन्होंने अपने बाणोंद्वारा गहरी चोट पहुँचायी। फिर तो उन दोनोंमें भारी युद्ध छिड़ गया

rājānaṃ sarvalokasya sarvaloka-mahāratham |
śarair abhyāhanad gāḍhaṃ tato yuddham abhūt tayoḥ ||
Sañjaya sprach: Er traf König Duryodhana—den Herrn der Menschen und den in aller Welt berühmten großen Wagenkämpfer—hart mit Pfeilsalven. Daraufhin entbrannte zwischen den beiden ein erbitterter Kampf, in dem unter den unerbittlichen Forderungen des Krieges sowohl Können als auch Königtum auf die Probe gestellt wurden.
