बाह्विकाभ्याशतो युक्त कर्णस्य च महद् बलम् | अन्योन्येन हि सैन्यानि भिन्नान्येतानि सारथे,“बाह्लिकोंके पास ही उनसे जुड़ी हुई कर्णकी बड़ी भारी सेना खड़ी है। सारथे! ये सारी सेनाएँ एक-दूसरीसे भिन्न हैं
bāhvikābhyāśato yukta karṇasya ca mahad balam | anyonyena hi sainyāni bhinnānyetāni sārathe |
Sañjaya sprach: „Nahe bei den Bāhlīkas steht Karṇas gewaltige und furchterregende Streitmacht, dicht in Schlachtordnung aufgestellt. O Wagenlenker, diese Heere sind in verschiedene Korps gegliedert, jedes vom anderen getrennt.“
