तदस्त्र॑ प्रेरितं तेन भीमसेनेन संयुगे । राक्षसस्य महामायां हत्वा राक्षसमार्दयत्
tad astraṁ preryitaṁ tena bhīmasenena saṁyuge | rākṣasasya mahāmāyāṁ hatvā rākṣasam ārdhayat ||
Sañjaya sprach: Mitten im Kampf zerschlug jene Waffe, von Bhīmasena in Gang gesetzt, die große Täuschung (māyā) des Rākṣasa und traf dann den Rākṣasa selbst vernichtend.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights that in righteous warfare, a warrior must not be misled by छल (māyā). Ethical strength includes discernment—piercing deception—and decisive action to protect the just cause.
Sañjaya reports that Bhīma launches a weapon in battle; it destroys the Rākṣasa’s powerful illusion and then overpowers/strikes down the Rākṣasa himself.
