युधिष्ठटिरं महाराजं जिगीषुं समवस्थितम् । सहानीकं ततो दोणो न््यवारयत वीर्यवान्,तदनन्तर पराक्रमी द्रोणाचार्यने विजयकी इच्छासे सेनासहित खड़े हुए महाराज युधिष्ठिरको आगे बढ़नेसे रोक दिया
yudhiṣṭhiraṃ mahārājaṃ jigīṣuṃ samavasthitam | sahānīkaṃ tato droṇo nyavārayata vīryavān ||
Sañjaya sprach: Da hielt der mächtige Droṇa König Yudhiṣṭhira auf—der mit seinem Heer bereitstand und nach Sieg verlangte—und verhinderte, dass er weiter vordrang.
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the battlefield reality that dharmic intent (Yudhiṣṭhira’s resolve to win for a just cause) must still pass through the opposing side’s equally binding martial duty (Droṇa’s obligation to defend and command). It frames war as a domain where righteousness does not remove resistance; it must be pursued with discipline, strategy, and acceptance of counter-force.
Yudhiṣṭhira, positioned with his troops and eager to press forward, attempts to advance. Droṇa, the powerful commander on the Kaurava side, blocks and restrains his movement, halting his advance in the ongoing battle sequence of the Droṇa Parva.
