The verse highlights unwavering determination in a dharmic crisis: even divine protection is declared insufficient against a vowed course of action. It frames the battlefield as a space where resolve, strategy, and perceived necessity can override fear of even the gods—raising ethical tension about certainty, violence, and responsibility.
Sanjaya reports that ‘the two Krishnas’ are speaking privately, asserting that they will certainly kill a particular warrior even if Indra and the gods protect him. The line emphasizes their confidence and the intensity of the moment in the Drona-parvan war narrative.
