Bhīṣma’s Reproof to Duryodhana

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights steadiness under threat: a warrior may remain outwardly fearless even when confronted by near-certain death. Ethically, it invites reflection on how courage and composure are virtues, yet their moral value depends on the cause (dharma) they serve.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Duryodhana does not become anxious or shaken as the formidable Ghaṭotkaca advances, portrayed as death-like and impelled by Time, intensifying the battlefield suspense.
