Educational Q&A

Even in warfare, conduct is framed by discipline and responsibility: warriors are assigned positions within a larger order and are expected to uphold comradeship through mutual protection, reflecting a kṣatriya ethic of duty and solidarity.

Sañjaya reports troop placement within the Kaurava battle-array: Śrutāyu, Śatāyu, and Bhūriśravas (Somadatta’s son) are stationed at the rear (jaghana) of the formation, standing together and guarding one another.
