भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ७२: सैन्यगुणवर्णनम्, व्यूहरक्षा, दैव-पुरुषकारचिन्ता
शच्प््ज्िल्ञस> ह्य #जज्स्ज्न्प्त्ल एकोनसप्ततितमो<ध्याय: कौरवोंद्वारा मकरव्यूह तथा पाण्डवोंद्वारा श्येनव्यूहका निर्माण एवं पाँचवें दिनके युद्धका आरम्भ संजय उवाच व्युषितायां तु शर्वर्यामुदिते च दिवाकरे । उभे सेने महाराज युद्धायैव समीयतु:
sañjaya uvāca
vyuṣitāyāṃ tu śarvaryām uditē ca divākare |
ubhē sēnē mahārāja yuddhāyaiva samīyatuḥ ||
Sañjaya sprach: „O König, als die Nacht verstrichen und die Sonne aufgegangen war, rückten die beiden Heere auf beiden Seiten vor und standen einander gegenüber, fest zum Kampf entschlossen.“
