भीमसेनस्य प्रतिघातः—भगदत्तगजप्रहारः—घटोत्कचमायायुद्धम्

जयद्रथेन सहिता ग्रीवायां संनिवेशिता: । आर्य! भूरिश्रवा, शल, शल्य और भगदत्त--ये जयद्रथके साथ ग्रीवाभागमें खड़े किये गये। इन्हींके साथ मद्र, सिंधु, सौवीर तथा पंचनद देशके योद्धा भी थे,इति श्रीमहाभारते भीष्मपर्वणि भीष्मवधपर्वणि तृतीये युद्धदिवसे परस्परव्यूहरचनायां षट्पञ्चाशत्तमो5ध्याय:
jayadrathena sahitā grīvāyāṃ saṃniveśitāḥ | ārya bhūriśravāḥ śalaḥ śalyaś ca bhagadattaś ca—ete jayadrathena saha grīvābhāge sthāpitāḥ | ebhiḥ saha madra-sindhu-sauvīra-pañcanada-deśīyā yodhā api āsan |
Sañjaya berichtet, dass Jayadratha im „Hals“-Abschnitt der Schlachtordnung aufgestellt wurde, begleitet von hervorragenden Kriegern — Bhūrishravas, Śala, Śalya und Bhagadatta. An ihrer Seite standen Kämpfer aus Madra, Sindhu, Sauvīra und aus dem Land der fünf Flüsse. Die Stelle hebt hervor, wie die Kaurava-Seite einen entscheidenden Punkt der Aufstellung bewusst mit berühmten Anführern und regionalen Kontingenten verstärkte und so die berechnete Kriegsordnung wie auch das moralische Gewicht kollektiver Parteinahme in einem Dharma-Konflikt sichtbar macht.
