Droṇa–Dhṛṣṭadyumna-yuddha (द्रोण-धृष्टद्युम्न-युद्धम्) — Tactical duel and allied interventions
तस्मिन् समुदिते शब्दे तुमुले लोमहर्षणे । बभूव रथनिर्घोष: पर्जन्यनिनदोपम:,भरतश्रेष्ठ) तलत्राणके आघातसे टकरायी हुई प्रत्यंचाओंके शब्द, पैदल सिपाहियोंके पैरोंकी धमक, उच्चस्वरसे होनेवाली घोड़ोंकी हिनहिनाहट, हाथियोंके चाबुक और अंकुशके आघातका शब्द, हथियारोंकी झनझनाहट तथा एक-दूसरेपर धावा करनेवाले गजराजोंके घण्टानाद--ये सब शब्द मिलकर ऐसी भयंकर आवाज प्रकट करने लगे, जो रोंगटे खड़े कर देनेवाली थी। उसीमें रथोंके पहियोंकी घरघराहट होने लगी, जो मेघोंकी विकट गर्जनाके समान जान पड़ती थी

Die vielen Klänge des Schlachtfeldes verschmolzen zu einem einzigen überwältigenden Brüllen und kündeten, dass der Krieg vollends entflammt war und die moralische Schwere des bevorstehenden Konflikts sich nun entfalten würde.
