Multiple Defensive Engagements to Protect Bhīṣma
अनासाद्य तु वार्ष्णेयं शक्ति: परमदारुणा | न्यपतद् धरणीपृष्ठे महोल्केव महाप्रभा,वह परम भयंकर शक्ति सात्यकितक न पहुँचकर अत्यन्त तेजस्विनी बड़ी भारी उल्काके समान पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़ी
anāsādya tu vārṣṇeyaṁ śaktiḥ paramadāruṇā | nyapatad dharaṇīpṛṣṭhe maholkeva mahāprabhā ||
Sañjaya sprach: Doch da sie den Vārṣṇeya (Sātyaki) nicht erreichte, fiel jene überaus schreckliche Speerwaffe (śakti)—von mächtigem Glanz durchstrahlt—auf die Erdoberfläche herab wie ein gewaltiger Meteor.
संजय उवाच
Even overwhelming power in war is ethically and practically constrained by accuracy, circumstance, and destiny; misdirected violence loses its intended effect, hinting at the limits of brute force and the protective arc surrounding key figures like Kṛṣṇa.
A terrifying spear-weapon (śakti) is hurled toward the Vārṣṇeya (Kṛṣṇa) but does not reach him; instead it falls to the ground, blazing like a great meteor.
