Book 14, Chapter 89
व्यभजन्त द्विजातिभ्यो यथोत्साहं यथासुखम् । उस अनन्त सुवर्णराशिको पाकर ऋत्विजोंने बड़े उत्साह और आनन्दके साथ उसे ब्राह्मणोंको बाँट दिया
vyabhajanta dvijātibhyo yathotsāhaṃ yathāsukham |
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Mit Eifer und Freude, wie es der Anlass verlangte, verteilten sie den Reichtum unter die „Zweimalgeborenen“ (dvija), das heißt die Brahmanen—sie gaben nach ihrem Vermögen und in freiwilliger Großmut. Die Szene unterstreicht die Ethik des yajña: Opfergaben werden nicht gehortet, sondern den Würdigen in freudiger, geordneter Gabe zurückgegeben.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dāna as an essential limb of dharma in sacrificial contexts: wealth gained or gathered for yajña should be redistributed to the deserving (especially the dvija recipients) with sincerity and joy, not reluctance or attachment.
During the Ashvamedha-related proceedings, the gathered wealth is being apportioned and given out to the twice-born recipients. The emphasis is on the manner of giving—energetically and happily—reflecting the successful completion and ethical fulfillment of the rite.
