बभ्रुवाहन-धनंजययोः संग्रामः

Babhruvāhana and Dhanaṃjaya’s engagement at Maṇipūra

विस्मृत्य कुरुराजानं तं च मन्दं जयद्रथम्‌ । अभिमन्योर्यथा जात: परिक्षित्‌ परवीरहा

vismṛtya kururājānaṃ taṃ ca mandaṃ jayadratham | abhimanyor yathā jātaḥ parīkṣit paravīrahā ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Indem man den König der Kuru und jenen schwächlichen Jayadratha hinter sich ließ, wurde Parīkṣit aus Abhimanyu geboren — einer, der zum Bezwinger feindlicher Helden werden sollte. Die Erzählung betont, dass die künftige Stärke des Geschlechts und die Wiederherstellung der sittlichen Ordnung (Dharma) nicht durch das Verharren bei früheren Herrschern oder geringeren Widersachern geschieht, sondern durch das Hervortreten eines würdigen Nachfolgers, der das Reich zu schützen vermag.“
